Thanksgiving 2014

When is the Date of Thanksgiving 2014?

In 2014, Thanksgiving was celebrated on Thursday, November 27th. Thanksgiving is an official federal holiday in the USA. It is when people give thanks for blessings and gather with family for a meal, usually consisting of turkey and some side dishes (such as stuffing). Thanksgiving falls on a different date each year, and 2014 is no exception. It is loosely based on a meal that occurred between the Wampanoag tribe and the Pilgrims in New England.

Thanksgiving is officially celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November, although some other countries (like Canada) celebrate their Thanksgiving holiday on a different date. Many Christians offer Thanksgiving prayers and psalms to God on this day.

The Catholic Church in the USA celebrates Thanksgiving as an optional Memorial, meaning it is a low-level feast.

We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving 2014, and don't forget to mark Thanksgiving 2013 on your calendars as well.
