A Prayer For Holy Cross Day

Also Known As The Feast Of The Triumph of the Cross

The Feast of the Holy Cross, i.e. "Holy Cross Day" celebrates the cross of Christ, and the supposed finding of the true cross by Saint Helena, the mother of the emperor Constantine, in the 4th century. It also celebrates other later events related to the finding of the cross. This prayer may be used on September 14th or any day related to the cross of Christ.

Prayer For Holy Cross Day
Almighty God,
whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ
was lifted high
upon the cross
that he might draw
the whole world to himself:
Mercifully grant that we,
who glory in the mystery of our redemption,
may have grace to take up our cross
and follow him;
who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
