A Prayer For Holy Saturday

Holy Saturday is the most sparsely celebrated day of the Church year. Very little "happens" as we recall the time Jesus spent in his tomb, as we "wait" along with the apostles and the Virgin Mary, preparing to celebrate his resurrection at the vigil of Easter. The following Holy Saturday prayer reflects the theme of Jesus in the tomb and our preparation for Easter.

Holy Saturday tomb Father,
Creator of heaven and earth,
Grant that as your son Jesus lay dead in the tomb,
on this holy Sabbath,
That we may wait along with him,
and the holy apostles
and blessed Virgin Mary,
for his glorious resurrection,
on Easter morning.
And, that along with all the saints,
grant us the grace
to boldly celebrate
his conquering of sin and death. Amen
