The Our Father prayer is probably the most well-known prayer in Christianity, and likely the oldest. Jesus taught the Our Father to his disciples when they asked him how to pray. This prayer, also known as the Lord's Prayer, is said in public and private worship. The Our Father prayer is a basic prayer every Catholic should know and memorize. The Latin version is called the Pater Noster
Our Father
Who art in heaven
Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil. Amen
