Prayer For Saint Monica's Memorial

For fervency in prayer

Saint Monica (sometimes spelled Monnica) was the mother of Saint Augustine of Hippo. She was born around 330 AD. She is remembered as a woman of great virtue and prayer, particularly her dedicated prayer on behalf of her wayward son Augustine during his youth. Her prayers and example had a clear effect on his adult conversion to Christianity and his amazing career as bishop and writer.

Saint Monica

The Prayer
Father,
Your servant Saint Monica
spent years in fervent prayer
on behalf of her lost son.
Grant us the strength to
always pray without ceasing
for our own needs
and those of others.
And may those who stray
off the course of righteousness
find their way back to your Son.
In his name we pray, Amen.
